The Morning Sand // August 8, 2005
This morning I woke up late. You know, sleeping in a tent with a bunch of other joes, means that whenever their alarms go off, I wake up. Therefore, when one person has a mission that requires him to get up at 0400, I wake up with him. Man, I love this job!!!
(ok, maybe there is a little sarcasm there – but not much….)
There was a sandstorm last night, I woke this morning to the orange glow of the day. Its an amazing site – the dust is so thick, you have about a 10 foot visibility range in the tent area, and everything has that – “no one has lived here for six years” dusty look to it. Unless you have been here, really, there is nothing that compares. It kinda nice because the air is so much cooler than on other days. You can walk outside and it’s a paltry 90 degrees. That’s unheard of!!
Yesterday’s service was awesome as always. The Lord is moving so powerfully here at the 410 Chapel. I felt renewed and strong as I approached the pulpit yesterday morning and last night. The most wonderful thing is what I shared with the soldiers in testimony time – I appealed to God, and He lifted me up. I know that I can do His work here because He has given me the strength to do so. We had a Red Cross Message this morning. There is no way to handle all this grief without the grace of Christ. Thanks be to God for His unspeakable gift!!!
