Vietnam and Iraq... in Albany... // May 20, 2007

I spent the last two weeks out at Camp Shelby (I'll tell you more about that in the next post)... returned home for about 24 hours and then headed out to Albany for my last drill there. My Guard unit is moving up to Griffin, GA so this was the last weekend I will spend in Albany.

The S1, S4 and I were walking the river walk (we were doing a recon for the run that was scheduled for the next morning) when we passed this profound memorial commemorating the sacrifice of Albany's sons in the Vietnam Memorial.

It was so profound, I wanted to share it with you. I have no idea who wrote it, but it is inscribed on this memorial. I believe the words stand even truer today...

"At a time when this country was in a war that was filled with questions, these men fought and died without asking these questions. They died for the love of their country.

Their sacrifice has therefore given America an everlasting promise of freedom. For, if this country's children will die for her in times of question; what will they do in times of truth..."

What indeed?

God's blessings be on our service members and their families.
