Ah yes, the Army... // December 7, 2007

The old adage still holds true: "what sounds to good to be true usually is..."

Today, I got home from work and this was waiting in my inbox:

"CH Fisher-

This is a warning order that we will have to divert you to another
assignment for your first duty station! :-(

The dominoes are starting to fall and due to needs elsewhere and for
other chaplains who have to move sooner, it means you will be sent
somewhere else."

In other words - no Ft Leonard Wood for us. We have left the formation for landing and re-entered the holding pattern. So, now we're back to where we started, we know we are going somewhere in the big Army - just not sure where.... again.

I wonder how many times we'll be doing this over the next 18 years? This is twice so for for us.

As you can well imagine, this was a significant emotional event for us. We had been making plans for Missouri and all that, and I was pumped about going to a Basic Training Unit. Ah well, as my commander is so fond of saying, "it is what it is." We'd appreciate your prayers.

Itsallgood.... ;)

Last time I got one of those messages, I wound up with one of my best assignments in the Army.

Hope your future is as good for you.

Oh man! I was looking forward to getting to know you and Sara. Joel's got a job at Ft. Wood and I'm hoping to get a long practicum there this summer.

Oh well. I'm SURE God has something awesome for you and yours.

I know right?!

We were looking forward to meeting you all as well. Next time I guess. Its a small Army after all...

We still need to collaborate on a chaplain/spouses forum...

God knows where He wants you 3 to be. Enjoy this month and the long last weeks of being a couple before your wonderful gift from God arrives. Enjoy watching and feeling the little move around while Sara is still carrying the special gift. Let God take care of your stress, the house sale, and the move. Get ready for the best wonderful day you don't want to ever miss. The birth of your first born.

I'll be praying for all 3 of you.

Sue
